Gary Joseph's Tigers verified the top spot in MaxPreps Texas Top 25 with a 34-7 victory over previously undefeated Lake Travis (Austin) Saturday night in the Class 6A Division II championship game at Houston's NRG Stadium.
With the win, Katy (16-0) earned a record-sharing eighth state championship. Katy's defensive unit limited opponents to 62 points and seven touchdowns over the course of 16 games.
Galena Park North Shore's 21-14 overtime victory over Westlake (Austin) in the Class 6A Division I title game gave Houston a sweep in the top classification. North Shore (13-3) rallied from a 1-3 start to the season to finish No. 3 in the rankings behind Lake Travis (15-1).
No. 6 George Ranch (Richmond) added to the success of Houston-area schools on the final weekend by completing a 16-0 season with a 56-0 Class 5A Division I championship victory over Lake Ridge (Mansfield).
No. 7 Cedar Park (16-0) completed its run to the Class 5A Division II title by with a 22-6 victory over Lone Star (Frisco).

The Katy Tigers finished off their amazing season with state and national titles.

1. (1 last week) Katy 16-0 Kyle Porter rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns while the Tigers defense limited high-powered Lake Travis (Austin) to one touchdown in a 34-7 victory for the 6A-II state title. They also were named the Xcellent 25 champions.
2. (2) Lake Travis (Austin) 15-1 Receiver
Cade Green made seven catches for 116 yards and the Cavaliers' only touchdown in a 34-7 loss to Katy in the 6A-II title game.
3. (8) North Shore (Houston) 13-3Quarterback
Maciah Long ran for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the overtime game-winner, in a 21-14 victory over Westlake (Austin) in the 6A-I title game.
4. (3) Westlake (Austin) 14-2University of Texas pledge
Sam Ehlinger threw for 219 yards and rushed for 88 more but the Chaparrals fell in overtime to North Shore (Houston) 21-14 in the 6A-I title game.
5. (4) Allen 14-1 The Eagles saw their 57-game winning streak end in a 23-17 loss to Westlake (Austin) in a 6A-I state semifinal.
6. (7) George Ranch (Richmond) 16-0Missouri pledge
Darius Anderson rushed for 246 yards as the Longhorns stampeded to a 56-0 rout of Lake Ridge (Mansfield) in the 5A-I title game.

Mak Sexton threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns while
Mac McCaskill returned a fumble 20 yards for a score in a 22-6 triumph over Lone Star (Frisco) in the 5A-II championship game.
8. (9) Steele (Cibolo) 14-1Four fumbles doomed the Knights in a 38-0 loss to Katy in a 6A-II state semifinal.

18. (13) Lone Star (Frisco) 14-2Jacob Click kicked a pair of field goals but the Rangers were held out of the end zone in a 22-6 loss to Cedar Park in the 5A-II title game.

Duke Carter and
Jett Duffey, the Eagles were overpowered 56-0 by George Ranch (Richmond) in the 5A-I title game.
20. (14) West Orange-Stark (Orange) 15-1Jack Dallas ran for a pair of touchdowns and the Mustangs defense, led by
Steven Tims, kept Celina out of the end zone in a 22-3 victory in the 4A-II title game.
21. (19) Waskom 16-0Chandrin Amie rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns to nail down a 33-21 victory over Franklin for the Wildcats' second-consecutive state crown in 3A-II.
22. (17) La Vega (Waco) 16-0Jamal Williams' 1-yard touchdown run with 11 seconds remaining carried the Pirates to a 33-31 victory over Argyle for the 4A-I title.
Kemoche' Hobbs rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns.
23. (21) Brock 16-0Leddy French rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Cameron Yoe 43-33 for the 3A-I title. Yoe played the second half without injured running back Traion Smith.
24. (22) Canadian 16-0Tanner Schafer threw for 243 yards and accounted for four touchdowns in a 61-20 victory over Refugio for the Wildcats' second-straight 2A-I state crown.
25. (23) Bremond 16-0Roshauud Paul rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns and also threw for a score in a 35-20 win over Albany in a repeat of last year's 2A-II state final.
