MaxPreps previews some of the top matchups in the nation this weekend.
For the second-straight week, the top-ranked team in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 is headed out of state to take on a dangerous opponent.
A week ago, then-No. 1 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) made its first trip to Texas to play Euless Trinity. The Spartans were sent back home to Northern California with an 0-1 record to start the season.
Top-ranked Bishop Gorman hopes to avoid the same fate this Friday when it plays at Bingham (South Jordan, Utah). The Miners have captured Utah's 5A title four of the past six seasons and narrowly lost at Bishop Gorman in overtime last season in Las Vegas.
Some of the other action involving ranked teams we're previewing in this edition of the MaxPreps Top 10 Games of the Week includes: No. 3 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) hosts a Serra (Gardena, Calif.) squad loaded with FBS talent; No. 4 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) takes on a ranked Florida team for the second-straight week when it travels to No. 19 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), and No. 7 Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.) heads south of the border looking to hand Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) a rare home loss.
