IMG Academy (Bradenton) finished the high school football season in Florida at No. 1 in the MaxPreps computer rankings after going 9-0.
The Ascenders (9-0) were led by seven five-star prospects including quarterback
Jayden Wade, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2028. Wade threw 20 touchdowns against two interceptions as IMG won games over
Hoover (Ala.),
Central (Phenix City, Ala.) and
East St. Louis (Ill.) among others.
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) checks in at No. 2 after winning its state-record seventh consecutive championship. The Raiders (14-1) won the last 14 games of the season after losing their opener to then-No. 1
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).
