Regarded as a top 100, four-star prospect in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports, Hubbard now sits at No. 20 on the all-time high school basketball career scoring according to the MaxPreps National High School Basketball Record Book. The previous state record of 4,274 points was set in 1986.
Hubbard is averaging 27.5 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, helping the Patriots to a record of 31-7. The Mississippi signee has scored 20 or more points 34 times this season, scored 30 or more points 11 times and scored a season-high 47 points in a loss to Clinton Christian Academy back on Dec. 17.
Hubbard has started on the varsity team since his eight grade season, averaging 15.3 points as an eighth grader, 18.2 points as a freshman, 24.3 points as a sophomore and 31.0 points as a junior.
Last season, Hubbard broke the MAIS scoring record of 3,168 points set by Ken Coghlan in 1980. He has also made 101 3-pointers this season and has tallied 433 made 3-pointers during this career.
Hubbard has been named MAIS Player of the Year three times during his five seasons, winning three state championships on the hardwood and capturing two additional state titles as a long jumper on the track team.
