High school football rankings: No. 14 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25, Brownsburg begins quest for third straight state title in Indiana

Brownsburg heads into Indiana's state playoffs riding a 28-game win streak as it opens Friday on the road at Zionsville. The Bulldogs have their eyes on a Class 6A three-peat, which has only been done once before by Center Grove (Greenwood) in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The IHSAA added a sixth class in 2013.

Only three Indiana teams have won three or more consecutive state titles in the highest classification since the IHSAA started crowning champions via tournament play in 1973.

Brownsburg is 9-0 this season and have won every game by at least 16 points. The No. 14 team in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings is led by a trio of seniors in Oscar Frye, Brady Lewis and Branden Sharpe. Frye has thrown for 2,040 yards and 28 touchdowns while completing 70.4 percent of his passes. Lewis has 140 carries for 893 yards and 14 scores while Sharpe is the team's leading receiver with 52 catches for 1,007 yards and 16 touchdowns. Twelve MaxPreps Top 25 teams wrap up the regular season this week led by No. 11 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) at No. 18 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) on Friday in California.

The winner will most likely clinch the No. 3 seed in the Southern Section Division 1 playoff bracket. Bosco bounced back with a 54-7 win over Servite (Anaheim) after a loss against No. 2 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita). Mater Dei has won three in a row since a 14-7 loss against Santa Margarita. The Monarchs have won four straight against their Trinity League rival and seven of the last 10.

No. 24 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) and No. 25 Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) rejoin the MaxPreps Top 25 rankings after Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) and North Shore (Houston, Texas) dropped out.
