Video: Top 25 national baseball rankings The Argyle Eagles ended as No. 1 for the second straight season.
Three players who could be top 10 draft picks in the Major League
Baseball Draft when their turn comes around top this year's MaxPreps
Underclass All-American Teams.
Jared Jones of La Mirada (Calif.) was last year's Sophomore Player of the Year and Blaze Jordan of DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) was the Freshman Player of the Year. Each is again honored at the top of their class, while Jared Jones of Walton (Marietta, Ga.) — yes, same name — is the Freshman Player of the Year.
Junior Player of the Year — Jared Jones of La Mirada
The MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year in 2018 did nothing to tarnish his resume as he was the Long Beach Dream Team Player of the Year and was also named to the Los Angeles Times All-Area Team, the Southern Section Division 1 team and the MaxPreps California All-State Team. He's expected to be a high first-round pick in 2020 after posting a 7-1 record in 2019 with 94 strikeouts. He also stood out on offense with a .457 batting average.
Sophomore Player of the Year — Blaze Jordan, DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.)
Although he has reclassified to the Class of 2020, Jordan was a sophomore during the 2019 season and he helped lead DeSoto Central to a Mississippi Class 6A state championship. Considered one of the top power hitters in the country, Jordan belted 10 home runs this past season.
Freshman Player of the Year — Jared Jones, Walton (Marietta, Ga.)
Coincidentally sharing the same name as the Junior Player of the Year, the younger Jones was a dominant hitter in the highest classification in Georgia as he batted .412 with 13 home runs while earning Class 7A All-State honors.
Following are the MaxPreps All-American Underclass Teams. The teams are
chosen based on a combination of year-end awards, statistics and college
potential.
