Top 25 media baseball composite rankings

Archbishop McCarthy, the MaxPreps preseason No. 1, has moved up to the top spot in the latest Baseball Top 25 media composite rankings following a seventh state title in eight seasons.

The Mavericks moved from No. 3 to No. 1, jumping over No. 2 Shawnee in the process. Shawnee is ranked No. 1 by the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, the USA Today expert rankings, Baseball American and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Archbishop McCarthy is not ranked No. 1 in any poll, but is ranked No. 2 in four polls and No. 3 in two others. Shawnee is not ranked in the MaxPreps computer rankings.

Huntington Beach, the No. 1 team in the last composite rankings, dropped to No. 15 after losing in the Southern Section Division I quarterfinals.

All of the media rankings were released this week except for the Baseball America rankings, which were released on May 30. The USA Today rankings were released after Tuesday's games, while all of the other rankings were released after Saturday's games. Rankings from Perfect Game were not used this week since the outlet has not released any new rankings since May 22.

Archbishop McCarthy, Helena, La Cueva, Eastlake and El Toro were the only teams listed by all six rankings services. Helena was he only other No. 1 team, holding that place in the MaxPreps computer rankings and the USA Today computer rankings.

A total of 63 different teams made the top 25 in at least one poll. A total of 24 teams were chosen by just one poll. The highest-ranking team among those teams was St. John Bosco with a No. 6 ranking by Baseball America.
