Burbank senior Kiare Thompson is stealing his final season as a Titan from, well, pretty much everybody.
Thompson leads the Sac-Joaquin Section with 34 stolen bases and has helped Burbank to a 12-6 record, pulling within one game of Metro Division leader McClatchy.
This is Burbank's first year in the Metro League after four-consecutive winless seasons in the Capital Athletic League.
Thompson, whose .373 batting average and 20 runs scored are being overshadowed by his incredible speed, has stolen at least one base in 14 of the Titans 18 games and has yet to be thrown out.
In a March 29 loss to Rosemont, Thompson swiped four bases, score two of Burbank's six runs and drive in one other. The four stolen base performance was matched four days later when Thompson took off and grabbed five in Burbank's 8-6 win over Foothill.
So far this season Thompson has stolen four bases in a game four times, five bases once, and at least two six other times.
While the speedy senior is collecting bases, shortstop/pitcher Miles Freeman is collecting everything else. The super sophomore is 5-1 as a pitcher with a 1.83 ERA and leads the team with a .460 batting average, a .940 slugging percentage, and four home runs.
