According to
Will Hammock of GwinnettPrepSports.com, the
Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.) standout sustained the injury last week in a scrimmage.
Word came Monday night that it will require surgery and keep the Stanford pledge from football duties for three to four months.
There's an outside chance he could be back for a late playoff run or play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Hammock wrote that Mills is the most heavily recruited quarterback in Gwinnett County history. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound signal caller is the No. 22 overall prospect in the country according to
247Sports.
He threw for 2,821 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a junior.
Mills was to be featured in a nationally-televised showdown at 24th-ranked
Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and its 5-star quarterback
Dylan McCaffrey on Sept. 9.
