High school football rankings: Carrollton moves up to No. 7 in MaxPreps Top 25 after 45-16 win over Gainesville

Julian Lewis and Carrollton (Ga.) had one of the most impressive wins of last week handing Gainesville (Ga.) its first loss of the season with a dominant 45-16 victory. The Trojans moved up two spots to No. 7 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings. They are 5-0 and have won all five games by double digits.

Lewis completed 15 of 19 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns against a defense that was allowing 5.6 points per game. The five-star USC commit has thrown for 1,218 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season while completing 78.9 percent of his passes.

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) bounced back with an impressive 55-28 win over Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.). Maika Eugenio got the start with Melvin Spicer IV out with an injury and threw for 255 yards and six touchdowns. The fifth-ranked Gaels finished their out-of-state schedule 3-1 with wins over No. 9 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), No. 17 Orange Lutheran and Kahuku (Hawaii). The only loss came at No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 31-15.

Duncanville (Texas) improved to 2-0 with a 28-24 win over St. Frances Academy (Baltimore). Keelon Russell led Duncanville on a 5-play, 87-yard drive capped by a 22-yard touchdown pass to Zach Turner in the final two minutes for the go-ahead score. Nehemiah Borner sealed the win with three sacks on St. Frances Academy's ensuing drive.

The loss dropped St. Frances Academy two spots to No. 24. Up next is a road trip to Southern California to face No. 1 Mater Dei on Friday.

Buford (Ga.) made the biggest jump in this week's MaxPreps Top 25, moving up seven spots to No. 13 after a 31-14 win over previously-ranked Douglas County (Douglasville, Ga.). The Wolves have won three in a row since a season-opening 13-10 loss at No. 3 Milton (Ga.).

JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) becomes the fourth team from Southern California's Trinity League in the MaxPreps Top 25. They check in at No. 23 after improving to 4-0 with a 28-19 win over Lincoln (San Diego).

Atascocita (Humble, Texas) is the only other new team in the rankings. The Eagles improved to 3-0 with a 39-21 win over Westlake (Austin, Texas), joining North Shore (Houston) and Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) as the only teams that have beat the Chaparrals since 2019.
