2015-16 record: 29-4
The Grizzlies lost just four seniors from last year's 15-person roster. Among the key returners are seniors
Khayla Rooks,
Nikki Mayoral and
Olivia Perez, who all were key players in a 68-64 win over La Jolla Country day to claim their third-straight section crown last season. Mission Hills has gone 79-19 in that time.

2. Bishop's (La Jolla)Head coach: Marlon Wells
2015-16 record: 25-8
Wells has built one of the top programs in the section, if not the state, since taking over in 2005-06. Since then the Knights have won at least 20 wins every season except one, including a 30-3 campaign in 2008-09. Bishop's returns the nation's sixth-leading scorer in 5-9 guard
Destiny Littleton, who averaged 35.7 points per game along with 9.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
Alessandra Aguirre also returns after averaging 17.1 points per game for the Knights, who averaged 75.3 points per game, 12th-best in the country and third in the state.

3. La Jolla Country DayHead coach: Terri Bamford
2015-16 record: 24-6

The Torreys lost four of 10 players to graduation off last year's squad but return
Alaysia Styles, a 6-3 senior who averaged team bests of 17.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game last year. Other top returning players are juniors
Jayda Villareal (8.5 ppg) and
Kiera Oakry (8.0 ppg). Bamford is considered one of the top coaches in the state, having compiled nine 20-win seasons since 2004-05, including a 32-1 state-championship campaign in 2011-12.

4. Eastlake (Chula Vista)Head coach: David Koopman
2015-16 record: 26-7
The Titans return all but one player from last year's 11-person roster, including leading scorers
Maya Robinson (13.2 ppg, 9.0 rpg) and
Olivia Klugg (10.7 ppg, 9.3 rpg). Koopman took over in 2009-10 and Eastlake has won 146 games since.

2015-16 record: 25-7
The Wolverines return one of the top junior guards in the section in 5-4
Mac Oribello, who averaged 11.2 points per game on a balanced squad. McHeffrey has had the Wolverines in title contention for almost all of the last decade with 165 wins from 2004 to 2010. After a two-year layoff, McHeffrey returned in 2013-14 and following a 13-15 season, Westview has responded with 21- and 25-win seasons.
Julia Dahlke, a 5-5 guard, is another top junior to return in 2016-17.
