Three teams shared the biggest jump of 12 points following holiday tournament action in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings for New Mexico boys basketball.
The highest-rated team, No. 51 Robertson, evened its record at 4-4 by winning two of three games during the 63rd annual Stu Clark Tournament at New Mexico Highlands University. The Cardinals beat Cobre 68-36 before losing to eventual champion Atrisco Heritage Christian Academy 84-56, which is No. 27 this week.
The Cardinals then won the consolation championship by upsetting then No. 28-ranked St. Pius X 58-51 as 6-foot-1 junior
Arjay Ortiz scored 29 points and sophomore
Kasean Pryor chipped in with 17.
No. 54 Alamo Navajo gained 12 positions with three victories. The Cougars posted impressive wins over Cottonwood Classical Prep 96-53 and Rough Rock 93-82 in the Striking Eagle Tournament and also beating Tse' Yi' Gai (Cuba) 75-60.
The third team to gain 12 points was Taos, ranked No. 86 this week. The Tigers bested Hatch Valley, which was No. 90 at the time, 70-49 and Wingate, which was No. 96 at the time, 57-39.
