B.J. Young and McCluer North peaked at the right time this season, winning the Class 5 state basketball title during the Show-Me Showdown at Mizzou Arena in Columbia earlier this month.
Young was the catalyst this season after averaging 28.6 points a game in 2010-11 and he earns MVP honors of the Show-Me State Super Seven basketball team. The Arkansas recruit also contributed 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.67 steals an outing during his final prep season.
Joining Young on the state's exclusive team is Florida recruit and Chaminade senior Bradley Beal, Springfield-Hillcrest's Dorial Green-Beckham, Cardinal Ritter's Cameron Biedscheid, Scott County Central standout Otto Porter, Shaq Boga of McCluer and Avery Dingman of Branson.
Brittany Carter gets the nod for MVP on the girls side after guiding Incarnate Word Academy to the top of the heap in Class 5. Averaging just less than 11 points a game on a balanced squad, Carter guided the Red Knights to a second straight championship win over Blue Springs.
Joining Carter on the 'A' team of Missouri girls basketball is Webb City's Kaitlin Jaeger, Cherisse Burris of Blue Springs, St. Joseph Academy's Maddie Stock, North Mercer's Sierra Michaelis, Shelby Winkelmann of Hermann and Penney's Lindsay Vollmer.
