Softball Game Preview: Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs vs. Creston Panthers

Dallas Center-Grimes is a perfect 6-0 against Creston since June of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Panthers. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dallas Center-Grimes 2.1, Creston 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Dallas Center-Grimes took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Glenwood. Considering the Mustangs have won 22 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Creston had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Titans, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won eight games in a row.

Creston pushed their record up to 32-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas Center-Grimes, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 32-7 record this season.

Dallas Center-Grimes took their win against Creston in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
