Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Micah Ojo of
Princess Anne (Virginia Beach) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Virginia High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 junior wing led the Cavaliers to a 28-0 record and fourth consecutive Class 5 state championship.
For the season, Ojo averaged 16.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per contest. Her efforts have helped Princess Anne build a 71-game win streak dating back to 2023.

In a 65-62 overtime win over Menchville (Newport News) in the state final, Ojo produced 25 points and 15 rebounds. But it was her clutch defensive play that helped Princess Anne force overtime down four late in the game.
Regarded as a top 10 prospect in the Class of 2027, Ojo is a three-time state champion and gold medalist with USA Basketball.
