The California Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 83-48 blowout they got at home against American. California's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Taylor Lim was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with three blocks. Kaylee Lawson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The win (which was California's fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for American, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California will take on Amador Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Amador Valley is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. American's road trip will continue as they head out to face Monte Vista at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th.
