No. 3 ALLEN DOWNS TOUGH LONGVIEW SQUADAllen (Texas) looked every bit of a Top 5 team in the country, pounding
Longview (Texas) 42-23.
Quarterback
Alec Morris threw for five touchdowns for Allen, the nation's No. 3-ranked team.
Morris came out firing early, connecting twice early with favorite target
Andrew Rodriguez on two 32-yard touchdowns to race to a 14-0 lead.
He
then called his own number later in the second quarter, plunging into
the end zone with 4:11 left in the half to extend Allen's lead to 21-0.
Longview
tried to get its offense going late in the second quarter, driving deep
into Allen territory. However, it had to settle for a field goal,
making it 21-3 at halftime.
The Eagles scored another touchdown
in the third quarter before Longview quarterback Givins Caraway plunged
across the goal line for a 1-yard score, making it 28-10.
Eric Hawkins,
who had two touchdowns last week, was once again a spark for Longview.
He caught a 48-yard touchdown from Caraway, closing the gap to 28-16.
The 2-point conversion failed.
Longview would add another late score, but Morris' fourth and fifth touchdown passes made the deficit too great to overcome.
