The Indianapolis Washington Continentals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-41 walloping at the hands of Herron. Indianapolis Washington was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
Several Continentals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaia Woods, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Woods grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Malaysha Flanagan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Indianapolis Washington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Herron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaycianna Clark led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Clark is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played. Trinity Foerster was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Indianapolis Washington has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Herron, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Washington will face off against Bethesda Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bethesda Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. As for Herron, they will head out on the road to challenge Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
