Coyle graduated in 2010 and was drafted in the third round out of high school, coming out for the draft after his team went 27-3.

He currently plays for the Portland Sea Dogs in Maine, the AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. He is hitting .336 this season in 217 at-bats.
