Heritage has gone a perfect 4-0 against Hemet recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Heritage's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Hemet's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Heritage was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Orange Vista 3-2. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Eli Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brenton Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Wade Johnson was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, in Thursday's Canine Competition, Hemet came out on top. Everything went their way against JW North on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th (when they won 22-0).
Terrance Bogendymont looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hemet got a massive performance out of Jhaydon Ruiz, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Ruiz has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Gregory, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Hemet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Hemet moved to 9-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Heritage, their record now sits at 16-8.
Heritage skirted past Hemet 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
