The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons posted their biggest victory since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Franklin 50-12 at home. With Wilcox-Hildreth ahead 34-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Wilcox-Hildreth was led to victory by Katelyn Bunger and Madison Bunger. Bunger scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Bunger dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bunger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Johnson, who scored two points along with five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Franklin struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wilcox-Hildreth racked up 14 assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wilcox-Hildreth and bumps their season record up to 13-5. As for Franklin, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
Wilcox-Hildreth won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Platte at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. South Platte is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Franklin, Franklin and Giltner will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Giltner is ranked 275th, while Franklin is ranked 270th).
