The Chino Cowboys will take on the Louisville Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Chino sitting on 17 straight victories and Louisville on 13.
Chino had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 61-51 win over Pacifica Christian/Orange County on Saturday. 61 seems to be a good number for Chino as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chino to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tess Oldenburg, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Oldenburg is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyndsey Valverde, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Louisville put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Calvary Chapel with a sharp 63-39 victory. Given Louisville's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Calvary Chapel is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chino pushed their record up to 21-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points per game. As for Louisville, their win bumped their record up to 25-3.
