The Baltic Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Viborg/Hurley. Baltic has struggled against Viborg/Hurley recently, as their game on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Baltic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Erickson. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Erickson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Erickson, who scored nine points.
Baltic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Viborg/Hurley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baltic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McCook Central/Montrose at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. McCook Central/Montrose is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Viborg/Hurley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Centerville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Viborg/Hurley is ranked 15th).
