Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Ridgeline (Millville) is the 2023-24 Utah MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot junior point guard led the Riverhawks to a 25-2 record and second consecutive Class 4A state championship.
For the season, Skinner averaged 24.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game. She shot nearly 60 percent from the field and scored 20 or more in all but three contests.

In a 54-30 win over Payson in the state semifinals, Skinner put up 27 points, six steals, four rebounds and four assists. Limited to just 16 minutes in the state final due to foul trouble, she still managed to make a major contribution with 17 points and six rebounds.
Regarded by some media outlets as a top 10 prospect in the Class of 2025, Skinner has offers from nationally-ranked college programs like Louisville, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and Utah among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11.
