While the Rochester Rockets couldn't quite beat the Triad Knights on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 36-point loss they were dealt last Saturday. Rochester fell just short of the Knights by a score of 50-47. While losing is never fun, Rochester can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Knights are ranked 101st).
Despite the loss, Rochester saw an underclassman step up: Eli Cox scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Melton, who scored eight points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Rochester and nudges their season record down to 11-15. As for Triad, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Rochester will head out on the road to take on the Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 358 points over their last five matches. As for Triad, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
