Softball Recap: Eagle's Landing Triumphs

Eagle's Landing proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 19) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Jonesboro Cardinals 20-19. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in August, they had to take a 23-15 loss.

Eagle's Landing got a massive performance out of Chase Robinson, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Lynette Herring was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.

Eagle's Landing was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Eagle's Landing's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Jonesboro, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagle's Landing will host Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jonesboro, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Starr's Mill at 5:30 p.m.
