Piedmont Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-10. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stratford Academy Eagles. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 9-8 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Naomi Mask and Peyton Whitfield did some serious damage despite the final result: Mask went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double, while Whitfield went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mask is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Arden Herring was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
As for Stratford Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
On Stratford Academy's side, Cordtney Galoia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Galoia was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hatsy Russell, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Shelley, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Piedmont Academy will head out to take on John Milledge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stratford Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mount de Sales Academy at 6:30 p.m. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.75 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
