Willits has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Mendocino Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Willits was able to grind out a solid win over Round Valley, taking the game 39-31.
Willits' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cecily Potter, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Cooke, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Mendocino had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against Elliot Christian by a score of 47-39.
Willits has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Mendocino, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything went Willits' way against Mendocino when the teams last played back in December of 2016 as Willits made off with a 46-23 win. Will Willits repeat their success, or does Mendocino have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
