Diamond Bar had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-22 to make it five. They lost 6-0 to the Claremont Wolfpack. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolfpack this season, with their most recent defeat being a 1-0 loss on Thursday.
Diamond Bar got a good showing from Jayden Henness, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Henness has allowed since back in March.
At the plate, Diamond Bar saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Tortorelli, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Tortorelli has hit this season.
As for Claremont, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-12-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.
On Claremont's side, not much got past Wyatt Green, who gave up just three hits to keep Diamond Bar off the board. Green also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wolfpack are 6-2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Ramzey Farah was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Claremont: the team is 5-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Porras, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Diamond Bar will venture away from home to challenge California at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Claremont, they will host Western Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
