Baseball Recap: Clairemont Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clairemont has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.31 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They skirted past the Morse Tigers 12-11. Winning may never get old, but the Chieftains sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Diego Matsumoto was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Connor Trevino was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Clairemont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Clairemont pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Morse, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13-1.

Clairemont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Classical Academy on the 18th. As for Morse, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against La Jolla on the 21st.
