Baseball Recap: Mcintosh Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

McIntosh never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Banneker Trojans with a sharp 18-0 victory. Considering the Chiefs have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex White and Elliott Sturbaum were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, White pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sturbaum pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. White also tossed no walks, which is notable because McIntosh is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-11 otherwise. At the plate, White scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Sturbaum scored three runs while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Sturbaum a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Knox Lofstad, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Ashley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

McIntosh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive contests.

McIntosh has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Banneker, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Coming up, McIntosh will face off against Ola at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Banneker, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dutchtown at 6:00 p.m. on the 15th.
