The Old Forge Blue Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Holy Cross Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Old Forge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Mid Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Old Forge in their matchups with Mid Valley: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Holy Cross, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They had to suffer through a rough 55-17 loss at the hands of Dunmore. While losing is never fun, Holy Cross can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 525th, while Dunmore is ranked 96th).
Old Forge dropped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Holy Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Old Forge barely slipped by Holy Cross in their previous meeting on January 3rd, winning 41-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Old Forge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
