The Northwestern Wildcats entered their tilt with the Eisenhower Knights with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Northwestern put the hurt on Eisenhower with a sharp 57-35 victory on Tuesday. Northwestern might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matches by 22 points or more this season.
Makayla Presser-Palmer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Northwestern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Miller, who scored 12 points.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Clara Steinberg, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Steinberg also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Lainey Font was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Northwestern pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Eisenhower, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Northwestern's road trip will continue as they head out to face Creek Wood at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Creek Wood is ranked 94th in Tennessee, while Northwestern is ranked 81st in Pennsylvania). Eisenhower will be home for the holidays to greet Erie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Erie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday.
