The Liberty Hurricanes lost against the Bethlehem Catholic Hawks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Liberty fell 52-45 to Bethlehem Catholic. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Bethlehem Catholic is ranked 43rd).
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ruby Miller. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Miller's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Emma Pukszyn was another key contributor, scoring three points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Liberty has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Bethlehem Catholic, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Parkland at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Parkland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Bethlehem Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Imhotep Charter at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
