Westgate has struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
New Iberia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wayne Randall-bashay led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Randall-bashay has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kentravion Smith, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Westgate has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for New Iberia, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westgate and the Vikings will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Northside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for New Iberia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sam Houston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 11th).
