Otay Ranch is a perfect 4-0 against Clairemont since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Mustangs will face off against the Chieftains at 10:30 a.m. Otay Ranch is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Otay Ranch barely beat Mar Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Mariners with a sharp 11-0 victory on Thursday. The contest marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season.
Moises Aguilar tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Meanwhile, Clairemont fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Imperial on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Jackson Cleary was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Clairemont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Matsumoto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Otay Ranch's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Clairemont, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Otay Ranch skirted past Clairemont 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
