The Waterford Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Venture Academy Mustangs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 56-48 to the Mustangs. Waterford was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Venture Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Venture Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelyiana Neal out in front who scored 16 points along with 9 steals. Kimora Crawford was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Waterford's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Venture Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Waterford will head out on the road to face off against Vanguard College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Venture Academy is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Escalon at 3:30 p.m. on December 6th. Escalon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Venture Academy likes a good challenge.
