Basketball Recap: Fox Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Kobe Sims and Justin Vining

Fox Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took an 86-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Augusta Christian Lions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (71), the Predators still had to take the loss.

Justin Vining and Kobe Sims certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Vining went 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points along with six assists and five boards, while Sims posted 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Vining a new career-high in points. Brelan Baskett was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

It was another big night for Bryce Reynierson, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten assists for Augusta Christian. Reynierson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Marcus Beard also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Fox Creek's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Augusta Christian, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Fox Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-39 victory against McCormick on the 13th. As for Augusta Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-64 win against Heathwood Hall Episcopal on the 16th.
