The Ventura Cougars entered their tilt with the Basha Bears with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Ventura breezed by Basha on the road to the tune of 68-36. Considering Ventura has won five matches by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ventura was led to victory by Skyler Knight and Kailee Staniland. Knight scored 20 points, while Staniland scored 25 points along with three steals. The matchup was Knight's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Emily Rea was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists.
Rose Bosch and Rylie Sword certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Bosch scored eight points, while Sword scored ten points.
Basha struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ventura pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Ventura's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Basha, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Ventura and Sunny Hills will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sunny Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Basha, they will head out on the road to face off against Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Boulder Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Basha is ranked 77th).
