This season hasn't been kind to The High Point Central Bison, who are still winless after their ninth match. They took a hard 14-0 fall against Atkins on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, High Point Central couldn't push the score so high this time.
Even if they lost, High Point Central's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Dmaureon Dines and Juan Solis who racked up five sacks between them.
Atkins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaydence Watson, who rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown. Zaire Friend and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Atkins' victory.
High Point Central's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Atkins, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.
High Point Central will take on Southern Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Guilford comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Atkins, they will head out on the road to face off against Rockingham County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockingham County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Atkins in North Carolina (Rockingham County is ranked 147th, while Atkins is ranked 332nd).
