The Thousand Oaks Lancers lost against the Calabasas Coyotes back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Thousand Oaks was outmatched by the Coyotes on the road and fell 57-29. Thousand Oaks has struggled against the Coyotes recently, as their game on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Thousand Oaks saw an underclassman step up: Jaelah Brown scored six points along with eight rebounds. Hailey Lauritzen was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Maddy Tauro was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for Calabasas. Tauro has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Yazdandoost, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Thousand Oaks' defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Calabasas, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thousand Oaks will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Oaks Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday. As for Calabasas, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Westlake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully the Coyotes like a good challenge.
