On the hitting side, Jeremiah Arias Torres made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mills and Half Moon Bay meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Mills' pitcher stepped up to hand Half Moon Bay a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 20, 2024.
The result came thanks to Tino Janke's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Nate Lafon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Givanni Angelini also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Mills' victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Woodside, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Mills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Mills, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Woodside's hitters?
Woodside was able to grind out a solid win over Mills when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Woodside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
