There's no place like home for the Arcata Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-44 victory over Del Norte on Thursday. Given Arcata's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Del Norte is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Arcata's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nora Talty led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Talty has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Addison Wingate, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Arcata's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Del Norte, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.
Arcata will be playing in front of their home fans against McKinleyville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Arcata has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Del Norte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
