Millard West got a massive performance out of Lily Van Boskirk, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Van Boskirk is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Burdorf, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Millard West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive games.
Papillion-LaVista came out on top against Marian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Crusaders.
Kaylee Huffman spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Alexa Taylor was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August. Taylor Hollenbach was another key player, earning two runs and four stolen bases.
Millard West's victory bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Papillion-LaVista, their win bumped their record up to 24-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millard West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Papillion-LaVista struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
