The La Salle Lancers will head out on the road to challenge the San Dimas Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely La Salle's strategy against Ramona Convent on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that La Salle blew Ramona Convent out of the water with a 60-23 final score. Given La Salle's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Ramona Convent is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Audrey Chen was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with five steals. Casey Higgins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, San Dimas had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They breezed by Covina on the road to the tune of 56-26. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point San Dimas had established a 26 point advantage.
San Dimas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaelyn Ramos, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Priscilla Romero, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
La Salle pushed their record up to 23-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for San Dimas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: La Salle have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like San Dimas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
