It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Orange Vista had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Eisenhower with points to spare, taking the game 21-7.
Sire Gaines continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Jesse Anderson and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Orange Vista's victory.
Another reason for the win was Orange Vista's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by William Matthew and Corey Johnson who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, San Jacinto had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Jaylen Patterson went supernova for San Jacinto, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 56 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Gresham, who gained 73 total yards and two touchdowns.
Orange Vista's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for San Jacinto, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
