Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Westlake Warriors couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a hard 71-56 fall against the Grizzlies on Thursday. Westlake's defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 55.4% of Westlake's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Taylor Swanson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Leading Los Osos to victory were Tiyana Saunders and Jackie Polk. Saunders scored 19 points, while Polk scored 20 points. Polk has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexus Finley, who scored ten points.
Westlake's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-7. As for Los Osos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Los Osos, they will take on Buena Park at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Los Osos is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
