Basketball Game Preview: Atwater Falcons vs. Golden Valley Cougars

Atwater has gone 10-0 against Golden Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Atwater Falcons will welcome the Golden Valley Cougars at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Atwater's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.

Atwater is returning to their home court after beating Los Banos on theirs, despite the fact Los Banos has dominated at home this season. Atwater claimed a resounding 81-31 victory over Los Banos. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Karissa Hukill was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Cami Gibson was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Atwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 24 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Buhach Colony 51-18 on Thursday. With the Cougars ahead 30-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Atwater is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Golden Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16.

Everything came up roses for Atwater against Golden Valley in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 68-26 victory. In that game, Atwater amassed a halftime lead of 43-19, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
