Sadly, the Modesto Panthers are still looking for their first win of the season after 18 matchups. They were beaten by Gregori 56-19 on Tuesday. Modesto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
Gregori found their leader in underclassman Alanah Lopez, who scored 18 points along with six steals. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Veronica Whitten was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Modesto dropped their record down to 0-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.2 points per game. As for Gregori, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Modesto will head out on the road to square off against Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gregori, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Pitman at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Gregori focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
