The Corning Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They lost to Oroville at home by a decisive 42-23 margin. Corning has struggled against Oroville recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Oroville had a senior duo take command as Leila Jackson scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds and Lili Kelemen scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four steals. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.
Corning's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-15. As for Oroville, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13.
Corning will look to defend their home court on Friday against Las Plumas at 7:30 p.m. As for Oroville, they will head out on the road to square off against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gridley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
